EXERCISE EXAMPLES
FRONT CHOKE
BREAKHOLDS
- Step back with the left foot and pivot slightly on right foot. Raise
right arm and turn your body counter-clockwise as right arm traps and
pins attackers left arm; counter strike with a right knife-hand to face
or neck.
- Strike throat; front kick or knee strike to groin; spin attacker
around and apply a hanging choke for takedown and control.
- Strike throat; apply wrist lock takedown; counter strike with hand
or foot.
REAR CHOKE BREAK-HOLDS
- Step forward with right foot 45 degrees; simultaneously raise left
arm and turn counter-clockwise (to left). left arm will break hold;
strike with right hand or fist to an open area; apply a rear or hanging
choke for submission.
- Back kick and/or knife hand to groin; follow up with elbow strikes
as you pull away.
- Strike backward with elbows and hips to loosen grip; grab thumbs or
pinkie fingers, pull overhead and cross the arms; apply elbow break
takedown and counter with hand or foot.
SOFT
"ONE-STEP" EXERCISES
- ATTACK: Left punch to face
DEFENSE: Right slap block from outside; left grab of his left arm; right
back fist to face; break left elbow with right forearm strike; right
knife hand strike to head; foot sweep takedown into a submission hold.
ATTACK: Left punch to face.
DEFENSE: Right downward slap block from outside; Left grab of his left
arm; right back fist to face; left palm heel to face; right palm heel to
kidney; rear or hanging or side choke-out.
ATTACK: Left punch to face.
DEFENSE: Right slap block from outside; twin palm heel strike to chest;
left circular palm heel to bladder; right ridge hand strike to groin from
behind; rear or hanging choke-out.
ATTACK: Left punch to face.
DEFENSE: Right slap block from outside; left hook palm heel to groin or
ribs; left hand pins left arm from outside; right punch to face or ribs;
right knife hand to kidney; rear or side or hanging choke.
ATTACK: Left punch to face.
DEFENSE; Right slap block from outside; left pin; right
round kick to
left leg; right strike to face; major hand throw with left wrist,
turning clockwise. (Hapkido throw)
ATTACK: Left punch to face.
DEFENSE: Right downward circular block from inside; right back-hand to
face; double knife hand strike to ribs or neck or slap ears; grab head
and pull down into a knee strike; apply front hanging choke.
