TAEGEUK 1
Taegeuk 1 Jang represents the symbol of "Keon", one of the 8 Kwaes (divination signs), which means the "heaven and yang". As the "Keon" symbolizes the beginning of the creation of all thing in the universe, do does the Taegeuk 1 Jang in the training of Taekwondo. This poomsae is characterized by its easiness in practicing, largely consisting of walking and basic actions, such as arae-makki, momtong-makki, momtong-jireugi, and ap-chagi. The 8th Kup-grade trainees practice this poomsae.

READY STANCE: Facing "A"
1. Look left and move left foot into Walking Stance toward L-1, execute a LEFT LOW BLOCK.
2. Step right foot toward L-1 into a Walking Stance with a RIGHT CENTER PUNCH.
3. Look right and move right foot clockwise to face R-1 in a Right Walking Stance, execute a RIGHT LOW BLOCK.
Step left foot toward R-1 into a Walking Stance with a LEFT CENTER PUNCH.
4. Look left and move left foot counter-clockwise into a Left Front Stance toward "A" and execute a LEFT LOW BLOCK / RIGHT REVERSE CENTER PUNCH.
5. Look right and move RIGHT FOOT into a Walking Stance toward R-2 with a LEFT OUT-TO-IN BLOCK.
6. Step left foot into a Walking Stance toward R-2 and execute a RIGHT REVERSE CENTER PUNCH.
7. Look left and move LEFT FOOT counter-clockwise into a Walking Stance toward L-2 and execute a RIGHT OUT-TO-IN BLOCK.
8. Step right foot into a Walking Stance toward R-2 and execute a LEFT REVERSE CENTER PUNCH.
9. Look right and move right foot clockwise into a RIGHT FRONT STANCE toward "A" and execute a RIGHT LOW BLOCK / LEFT REVERSE CENTER PUNCH.
10. Look left and move Left foot into a Walking Stance toward L-3 with a LEFT HIGH BLOCK.
11. Execute a RIGHT FRONT SNAP KICK toward L-3, setting kicking foot down toward L-3 into a Right Walking Stance with a RIGHT CENTER PUNCH.
12. Look right and move right foot clockwise toward L-3 into a Right Walking Stance with a RIGHT HIGH BLOCK.
13. Execute a LEFT FRONT SNAP KICK toward R-3, setting kicking foot down toward R-3 into a Left Walking Stance with a LEFT CENTER PUNCH.
14. Look right and move LEFT FOOT into a Left Front Stance toward "B" and execute a LEFT LOW BLOCK.
15. Step toward "B" into a Right Front Stance with a RIGHT CENTER PUNCH and YELL!!
END MOVE LEFT FOOT BACK COUNTER-CLOCKWISE TO FACE -A- IN READY STANCE.
